3 Dream Honeymoon Destinations

Once the dreamy wedding has been completed, the vows have long since been said, and the guests have all danced the night away, newlyweds can look forward to one more exciting add on to the whole experience of getting married; namely the honeymoon.

While not everyone is lucky enough to get to take one, for those who do, there are a multitude of hot spots out there that all hold a different type of appeal and a different price tag to go with it.

For these purposes, 3 of the best getaways with regards to the sand and sea can be found all across the globe.

The first place to highlight is the Hawaiian Islands.

Prices for tropical retreats here are generally considered middle of the road and the other benefit is that, if you live in the USA, they don’t take an overly long time to get to. For a beach retreat there are the five star resort hotels that offer amenities such as pools and spas as well as every water sport imaginable. You can participate in snorkeling, jet skiing, swimming with dolphins, surfing and much more.

Also, there are of course many places to just lie around if that’s all that the happy couple wants to do as well. One such resort to check out is the Turtle Bay resort, located on the remote North Shore of Oahu, and just 45 minutes from Honolulu. To get a true visual, the Hollywood hit movie Forgetting Sarah Marshall was shot on location there and offers a great example of all the resort has to offer for curious newlyweds.

The hotel itself has 880 acres of private beaches and 12 miles of ocean front trails for horseback riding, and overlooks the incredibly scenic Kawela Bay and Kuilima Cove. This is a fantastic option for a couple who are into golf, as the resort has two 18 hole golf courses to choose from, as well as excursion trips that are available to the nearby Dole Pineapple Plantation or the tropical orchards of Waialua.

The second great place on the list of honeymoon getaways is Mexico.

As far as stretching the dollar is concerned, this location offers some of the best rates for honeymooners if a sand and sea destination is what’s on the agenda. The area of Cancun sits at the top end of Mexico at the Yukatan Peninsula, and a couple can explore ancient Mayan ruins, sit out on one of the sun drenched beaches, or live it up at one of the clubs that offer an exciting array of nightlife activities. Be sure to avoid the rainy season from September through November and hurricane season which runs around the same time and almost as long. For additional sightseeing a carnival festival is held in February followed by the Jazz festival in May.

A particular resort to draw attention to is the Casa Turquesa which caters specifically to couples by offering lots of little luxuries like balconies that have private Jacuzzi tubs, a pool that sits right on the beach, and private suites that are perfect for creating a lovely honeymoon.

The third and final destination for beach lovers can be found in the Caribbean.

Depending upon the type of vacation that’s desired, most of the islands have traditional water activities, and Jamaica offers all of the typical resort qualities while also providing fabulous hiking through a stretch of tropical rain forests or one the many waterfalls the area is known for. For the male golf aficionado there are five star courses to enjoy and for the female there are a substantial amount of outlets available for the avid shopper.

The Sandals Antigua Resort and Spa is the perfect couples retreat with all inclusive packages that encourage the adult only surroundings as well as a lively nightlife to partake of.

Basically, the hotel is set up to be the best of both worlds in that it feels secluded and remote while offering the traditional amenities of an upscale hotel. Of course, the pool and spa areas are an oasis unto themselves, and if that isn’t romantic enough, couples can order one of the signature drinks from the bar and watch the sun set on the private balcony of their very own honeymoon retreat.

No matter where a couple chooses to spend their honeymoon, the most important part of the trip is always the time to focus on one another. However, when the surroundings are a spectacular tropical paradise, it certainly doesn’t hurt and for the newlyweds looking to have a little bit of everything, the beach getaway is the perfect way to go.
